Joyce Sundin, an intervention consultant based in Seattle Washington, is well known in the Pacific Northwest for effective interventions. She was one of the pioneers of intervention in this region and has been training and facilitating interventions since 1979.
Her practice has grown primarily through word-of-mouth referrals and she now conducts inteventions throughout the United States and abroad. Over 90% of the individuals who go through the intervention process with her seek treatment. Joyce is a seasoned interventionist and case manager, working with some of the most difficult and reluctant clients.
Joyce devotes her practice exclusively to training and facilitating interventions. While she works primarily in the field of chemical dependence, she has also been successful with intervention on eating disorders, gambling, smoking, unhealthy dependencies in the work place and in relationships, and assisted-living placement.
Joyce Sundin received her formal education from Seattle University later becoming adjunct faculty in their Addiction Studies Program teaching Intervention Process for 7 years. She also taught Intervention Process at Bellevue College. She was an early member and served on the board of the Association of Intervention Specialists (AIS) and currently serves on the board of Network of Independent Interventionists (NII). In addition to being a Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) she earned the following: a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDC II) through the Chemical Dependency Professionals of Washington State in 1982, National Certified Addictions Counselor (NCAC II) through The National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors in 1991, a Certified Problem Gambling Counselor (CPGC) in 2005 through the Washington State Council on Problem Gambling, now known as Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling. (Served on their board for 8 years) Joyce has been trained in the Johnson Institute Model, the Invitational Family Systems Model, the ARISE Model and the Storti Model of interventions.
While most of her interventions have taken place in the Northwest Joyce has facilitated interventions throughout the U.S., in Canada and Europe.
